Yamaha’s CommandBlue™ Philosophy Guides New Marine Product Development
Posted 6/9/2020
Kennesaw, Ga. – June 9, 2020 – Yamaha Marine today introduced CommandBlue™, a philosophy that represents the company’s commitment to move engineering development into the realm of the customer, ultimately delivering products that are easier to use and create greater satisfaction and confidence on the water.
“As we approach future product concepts, it’s important that we stay focused on what our customers want on the water,” said Mark Tracy, General Manager, Marketing and Sales, Yamaha Marine Engine Systems. “CommandBlue drives product development through fresh thinking from a customer point of view. The products we plan to introduce under the CommandBlue umbrella will include simpler, intelligent marine components that make boating experiences easier and deliver more joy for the end user.”
The CommandBlue philosophy guides the operating principles of the Yamaha Boat Power Systems (BPS) division. Created in late 2018 within Yamaha’s Kennesaw, Ga. headquarters, the BPS division is a research and development group tasked with reimagining how boaters interact with Yamaha products and finding solutions for the further integration of those products within boats. The division includes Product Planning and Information, Engineering and Yamaha’s test facility team in Bridgeport, Ala.
Since its establishment, Yamaha Marine has made significant investments in the BPS division. In addition to the office space and lab, the team now includes 25 employees with expertise and advanced training in fields such as aerospace, mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as control systems. Together, the team explores new technology that will ultimately yield the most innovative products and quality services for boat builders, dealers and consumers.
Yamaha plans several product introductions under the CommandBlue philosophy within the next 18 months.
Yamaha Marine products are marketed throughout the United States and around the world. Yamaha Marine U.S. Business Unit, based in Kennesaw, Ga., supports its 2,400 U.S. dealers and boat builders with marketing, training and parts for Yamaha’s full line of products and strives to be the industry leader in reliability, technology and customer service. Yamaha Marine is the only outboard brand to have earned NMMA®’s C.S.I. Customer Satisfaction Index award every year since its inception.
REMEMBER to always observe all applicable boating laws. Never drink and drive. Dress properly with a USCG-approved personal floatation device and protective gear.
