New Anglers Expand 2022 Yamaha Marine Pro Team

Kennesaw, Ga., Feb. 7, 2022 – Yamaha Marine adds seven new anglers to freshwater and saltwater Pro Fishing Teams for 2022. They will compete in various professional tournament trails across the country, representing Yamaha’s premium brand and upholding the company’s dedication to the sport of competitive fishing.
“These new Pro Team members share a passion for Yamaha’s high standards of sportsmanship, conservation and ethics,” said Roxanne Flores, Supervisor, Pro Staff and Internal Communications, Yamaha Marine Engine Systems. “They are ready to lead the sport both on and off the water, and we look forward to their success in the 2022 season.”
Jared Miller, Keith Tuma, Devon Banks and Matt Looney are the newest members of the Skeeter/Yamaha team and will run Yamaha V MAX SHO® 250 outboards in the 2022 Bassmaster® Open Series and National Professional Fishing League. Miller and Banks will fish from the new Skeeter FXR21 platform, while Tuma and Looney will use the Skeeter FXR20 platform in competitions.
Miller has 44 B.A.S.S. tournaments under his belt, including one top-ten finish. Tuma fished his first Bassmaster® Open Series season in 2021, finishing first at the Harris Chain of Lakes in Leesburg, Florida. Both anglers will compete in the 2022 Bassmaster Classic on Lake Hartwell in South Carolina. Banks has past experience in Bassmaster Open tournaments and will return to the trail in 2022.
John Soukup will compete in the National Professional Fishing League circuit for Yamaha from his X21 Pro Xpress Boat powered by a Yamaha V MAX SHO 250 outboard. He has nine top-ten finishes in the Major League Fishing circuit and competed in the Tackle Warehouse® Pro Circuit Title match in 2018.
Looney will also compete in the NPFL. In addition to tournament fishing, he also founded a nonprofit to raise money for children with muscular dystrophy.
Kevin Akin will represent Yamaha in several saltwater tournaments this year, including the Professional Redfish League, Redfish World Series and Elite Redfish Series. He won the 2021 Elite Redfish Series National Championship with a world record-setting catch of 152.40 pounds in the one-day event.
Nick Stanczyk is a world-class charter captain who will also compete in various tournaments throughout the year. He helped create one of the pioneering daytime swordfishing techniques and owns the renowned Bud ‘N Mary’s Marina in Islamorada, Florida.
